ABOUT ME

I acquired my first computer in 1980 (Dick Smith "Wizard", ZX-80 tape-loading OS), and have been in front of one pretty much every day since then.

Having had a background in IT & Sysadmin work in Australia, I left for England in 1997 and ended up working for BBC Television as a 3rd line WAN technician on their remote access systems. I travelled around Europe and the United States extensively in that time.

Returning to Australia in 2000, I used the money I'd saved to put myself through college & learn everything I could about 3D animation & Visual Effects. From 2001-2018 I worked in the Visual Effects Industry.
The first ten years were spent mostly on Commercials as a 3D generalist, and the final 8 years were spent as a Camera/Matchmove/Stereo specialist in film. During this whole time I had often had freelance design jobs as a supplementary income. In 2007 I acquired my first DSLR, the Nikon D7000, then in 2018 I changed to Fuji cameras and lenses. I've also immersed myself in all things 360.

In 2018 I decided it was time for a new challenge and started Intrepid Photography. Returning to creating my own content with my own creative vision has been very gratifying, and the work has grown from just photography to design and now to video as well (shoot/edit/grade).

My mission is to make beautiful images in which ever medium I am working in, and provide the best possible look and feel both aesthetically and technically. I am only interested in producing high quality work, anything that pushes me to expand my knowledge of computer graphics is a good thing. I seek to provide a good client experience along with top quality work to take away. I'm passionate about constantly improving on quality, and take a tremendous amount of pride in my work. Part of the fun of this is constantly learning new and better ways to develop my craft.
